Cave tours are high on my list of fun and fascinating adventures. And I’ve taken many of them over the years, from Mammoth Caves and Wind Cave to Kartchner Caverns and Carlsbad Caverns. Wherever I travel, I always seek them out, as I never tire of exploring nature’s underground wildernesses.

My latest tour was of Lake Shasta Caverns in California. Located 25 miles north of Redding, in the foothills of Mt. Shasta, these caves are Read More

Twelve-year-old Lorenzo stood quietly, eyes downcast, as we visited his family’s small home in rural Guatemala. When he finally spoke about his dream to continue school beyond sixth grade, his voice trembled. Then, tears came. His father had died earlier this year, and the cost of education—between $1,000 and $1,500 annually (after 6th grade) —was far beyond what his family could afford on their modest monthly income of $150 to $400.

Like many children in rural Guatemala, Read More

By Fr. Glenn Jones:

When you watch the fiction of television, you’ll often see portrayals of freedom as being unrestrained license to do anything that passions impel you to do at the moment. Sadly, often tragically, things don’t tend to turn out well when you do that—either for yourself or for those around you. TV is, after all, fiction. How much pain has been doled out because we don’t restrain ourselves when we give in to temptations moving us to do things which are wrong—the tearing apart of families, destruction of financial security, health problems, feuds, and even murder, etc.

By ALLEN MCQUISTON

For years, self-driving cars have been painted as the future of transportation—sleek, effortless, and nearly accident-proof. But as the years go by, many people are wondering: are autonomous vehicles truly the next revolution, or just another overhyped tech experiment?

When self-driving technology first hit the headlines, it felt like science fiction becoming reality. The idea was simple: remove human error—the cause of
