Altocumulus clouds, known in Spanish as el cielo emborregao, are cloud puffs that resemble sheep’s wool. Old Hispanic lore would read these clouds as a bad omen but, in my life, a life lived mostly in the kitchen, this type of cloud formation reminds me of natillas and that is a good sign.

Traffic Alert:

N.M. 502 will be closed near the eastern entrance to Los Alamos, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 29.

The closure is needed as part of the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s N.M. 502 Road Reconstruction and Roundabout Project; crews from Star Paving will be installing a gas line across N.M. 502.

Residents living on Arroyo Lane and Verde Ridge Road are advised to enter and exit to the east only while the closure is in place.

I’ve become rather fond of the trails at Petroglyph National Monument on the edge of Albuquerque since leaving the beauty of the forests and canyons of Los Alamos and vicinity.
