Letter To The Editor: LA Taxi Provides Needed Service

By CAMILLE MORRISON
White Rock

I no longer drive so I take LA Taxi to the airport or to doctor’s appointments in Albuquerque.

I take the Rail Runner to Albuquerque when I visit friends. The taxi takes me to the train station in the morning and back home from the train station when I return in the evening.

The bus doesn’t run on weekends so I take the taxi when I go someplace that is not within walking distance of my house. Cindy (LA Taxi owner Cindy Capelli) and I have become good friends. She provides a service that is needed in Los Alamos.

Take the taxi and leave the driving to Cindy or one of Read More

Fr. Glenn: The Lord Giveth…

Fr. Glenn Jones:

The Lord giveth…

…and the Lord taketh away.

That phrase of Job (Job 1:21) came to mind the last couple of weeks as each day saw roller coaster stock market fluctuations and the resulting uncertainty, and perhaps evaporation, of a large amount of the wealth that people so assiduously accumulate and invest … most, if not all, of the uncertainty sparked by the coronavirus scare. And thus we see how tenuous are the material things upon which we depend and set hopes upon … this current example showing how perhaps years of work and earnings may be wiped out—albeit indirectly—by even the Read More

Espanola Valley

As we enter the Lenten Season, I am flooded with memories of quiet, candlelit spaces, ancient novenas read by kneeling families and melancholy hymns sung from brittle pages with Spanish cadence reverberating through my body.

This season of reflection lasts forty days. As a child this seemed like an eternity of fasting, giving up our favorite treats and focusing only on others, but there were rewards.

Much of our religious practice was prescribed so early in our existence that the rhythm of these rituals was imbedded Read More

He said police are investigating a suspect spotted loitering around the area and who also is thought to be conducting grab and run thefts from area convenience stores. Roybal expressed his appreciation to the community for the overwhelming support he has received following Monday night’s incident. He especially thanks local resident Gary
