Red Elvises band leader Igor Yuzov uses his guitar as a weapon during the Friday night Summer Concert at Ashley Pond Park. Yuzov was born in Germany, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak, however, led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible, Igor left Russia for America with his ‘Folk’n’Roll’ band Limpopo and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan. Pride Week Features Special Events June 15-17

The Los Alamos County Council presented a proclamation in May, which recognizes the second week of June as Annual LGBTQ+ Pride Week. This is the first time Pride has been recognized or celebrated by the Los Alamos Community.

It started when three women, Tina DeYoe, Roberta Beal and Danielle Sutherland were sitting around talking about how great it would be if Los Alamos had its own Pride Week, as many other communities do.
