Sunday, a large crowd of music-lovers and well-wishers were in the United Church of Los Alamos when Mary Badarak, long-time conductor of the Los Alamos Choral Society, directed the Choral Society for the last time.

Viola musician and member of the Los Alamos/Santa Fe String Quintet Brian Newnam describes chamber music as like dessert.

Tuesdays At The Pond Series Returns For 2017 Season

The summer staple “Tuesdays at the Pond” will be returning to the Ashley Pond stage at 7 p.m. every Tuesday, beginning June 6.

This year’s summer entertainment series will feature a wide variety of musical acts, and there’s sure to be something for everyone! Performances will range all the way from a professional wind ensemble to an R&B artist, a folk rock group to a big brass band, and everything in between.

When Mary Badarak steps up to lead the Los Alamos Choral Society’s 2017 spring concert Sunday, she will be presenting a showcase of her work—not only as a director, but as a composer and arranger as well.

Badarak will be retiring from Choral Society after this concert, “Broadway to Beatles to Badarak and Beyond,” which is scheduled at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 28, at the United Church of Los Alamos. On The Job In Los Alamos: Aaron Anderson At LAMA

On the job in Los Alamos is Aaron Anderson, co-owner of Los Alamos Music Academy LLC (LAMA) in his studio Friday at 200 DP Road. Anderson and his partner Cia Khakaura got together as the result of a discussion on Facebook about the demand for high quality, yet affordable, music lessons in Los Alamos. He was looking to grow his studio without a huge increase in time commitment, while she was looking for a way to decrease her travel to her students.
