Sangre de Cristo Chorale: ‘Night Songs’ This Weekend

The Sangre de Cristo Chorale will cap its 39th season with performances on April 29 in Santa Fe and April 30 in Los Alamos with Night Songs. This concert features works inspired by the night … of lovers finding their heart’s desire or heartbreak … of being enveloped by twinkling stars, lush scents and reflection. The Los Alamos Concert Association has engaged a rising young star, pianist Natasha Paremski, to replace Ingrid Fliter who has regretfully cancelled her performance May 7 for family reasons.
 
Ms. Paremski’s program will include Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Paganini and three mazurkas and the Scherzo No. 4 in E Major, Op. 54 by Chopin.

The 2017 Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series is the 28th and final one for concert promoter Russ Gordon. He’s gotten a job offer he can’t refuse.

“We love babysitting our three grandchildren and our grand nieces and nephews,” Gordon said. “Those kids are way too much fun.”

ALBUQUERQUE  The New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) Chamber String Ensemble won the State Championship in the String Category at the NMAA State Orchestra Competition.
