Los Alamos Big Band Christmas Dance Dec. 28

Mark your calendars! The annual Christmas Dance featuring the Los Alamos Big Band is 7:30-10:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall. Come and dance the night away, or if dancing isn’t your thing, just sit and enjoy listening to the live sounds of the 40’s and 50’s with some Christmas tunes mixed in of course. All of the proceeds will benefit the IHM Youth Group who will be hosting the event with festive decorations and refreshments. Tickets are $15, $10 for students and $5 for children under 12.

A free concert will be presented by the Los Alamos Christmas Tubas playing tubas of varying sizes at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 in Kelly Hall at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church in Los Alamos. The Sangre de Cristo Chorale will present its winter concert Carols of the Southwest, 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the United Church of Los Alamos, 2525 Canyon Road.

Conrad Susa’s Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest, is the centerpiece of this performance. This 10-movement work is a magical setting of folk songs from this culturally rich and very broad region.

This weekend, the award-winning Los Alamos Community Winds will once again welcome the Yuletide Season with “Christmas with the Winds” 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11 at Crossroads Bible Church.

This year marks a return to the full ensemble in concert.
