Fifteen Aspiring Los Alamos Piano Students Perform In Recital At Fuller Lodge Sunday Afternoon

This Sunday at 2 p.m., 15 aspiring young pianists in Los Alamos will present a public recital, at Crossroads Bible Church. The Community Recital is FREE and open to the public, sponsored by the teachers of the Los Alamos Music Teachers Association (LAMTA). Students from the age of 7 through 15 will present a program that is a vibrant mixture or solos, duets, and an original student composition,with the music spanning all musical style periods from J.S. Bach to the everpopular John Williams.

The Annual Piano Competition for the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico (PMTNM) was held Saturday, Nov. 12, on the campus of the Albuquerque Academy.

Out of five levels of pre-collegiate performance determined by age, three young Los Alamos pianists emerged victorious by winning the highest awards:

LAMA: Upcoming Events And Developments

With a couple weeks of lessons under our belts, we reflect on the whirlwind that starting Los Alamos Music Academy (LAMA) has been.
 
Wasn’t it just this past July that the idea was formed? In 3 months, we’ve taken that idea, turned two empty conference rooms in an underutilized building into lesson labs and a retail space, and enrolled over 20 students. Thank you to everyone who has joined us and supported us in this musical adventure!
 
That said, we have room for more students on all instruments. So, in order to fill our classes, we are hosting an Open House 2-4 p.m.
