Jingle Bell Rock ‘N Run 5K Sunday

LAHS News:

The Los Alamos High School Band is hosting the Jingle Bell Rock ‘N Run this Sunday, Dec. 13 to raise money for their upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.

The fun run includes the choice of a 5K or 1 mile run and is modeled after the popular Rock and Roll marathons featuring live music along the routes. Students from Los Alamos High School and Los Alamos Middle School will play holiday tunes for the runners.  

Costs are $30 for the 5K and $10 for the mile. The mile starts at 2 p.m. and the 5K at 2:30 pm. Both runs start and finish at the Los Alamos Middle School.

Community Messiah Sing-A-Long Dec. 13

COMMUNITY News:

The Collaborative Artists of Los Alamos and White Rock invite the community to its first Annual Community Messiah Sing-A-Long.

Sing along at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 with an orchestra and chorus, the music of Handel’s famous oratorio “The Messiah.” Those who are not singers are invited to listen as the LDS Church in Los Alamos at 1967 18th St., is filled with the music of this amazing work, which highlights the ever-popular “Hallelujah Chorus.”

LAPS Foundation Grant Sends LAMS Band Director To National Music Education Conference In Nashville

Los Alamos Middle School Band Director and Music Teacher Ryan Finn was able to attend the National Music Education Conference in Nashville this year as part of a grant received by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation.

The conference, in October 2015, was a fantastic opportunity for Finn to spend time working with distinguished band directors and learn valuable new classroom techniques.

Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico’s ‘A Celebration Of Women’ – music written by women, for women’s voices concert will see the highly skilled 11 voice ensemble collaborate with Santa Fe based poet, Pulitzer Prize nominee, Valerie Martinez in two performances.
