Award winning, Croatian classical guitarist Ana Vidovic will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre.

The event, part of the Center’s Chispa: Latino Music Season and the seventh performance in the popular Pimentel Concert Series, is presented in partnership with Pimentel Music.

Award-winning composer and early childhood educator Frank Leto and the National Hispanic Cultural Center, presents a special children’s concert at 9:30 p.m., and 11 a.m., Thursday and Friday, Jan. 28 and 29, in the NHCC’s Albuquerque Journal Theatre.

The Los Alamos Arts Council continues its Brown Bag Performance Series with local piano virtuoso Juanita Madland at noon Wednesday, Jan. 6 in the Pajarito Room at Fuller Lodge.

Wednesday’s program features the following works from the many places Madland has performed around the world:

Airman First Class Daniel Nebel, a 2004 graduate of Los Alamos High School, is serving as a bandsman with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West stationed at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.

He will present a free classical concert of solo horn and piano music at noon Thursday, Dec. 31 at Fuller Lodge. The public is invited to come to the free event and, if desired, bring a sack lunch.

The Los Alamos Big Band’s Annual Holiday Dance 7:30-10:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 26, is open to the public at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall in Los Alamos.

The dance raises funds for the IHM church youth group and provides the local community a fun evening for all ages.

Annual Big Band After Christmas Dance Dec. 26

BIG BAND News:

The annual Big Band After Christmas Dance is 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall, 3700 Canyon Road in Los Alamos. The dance is open to the public and proceeds will be used to help the IHM Youth Group. Admission is $15, $10 for students, and $5 for those under 12.

The IHM venue provides a large dance floor and good acoustics. Decorations and refreshments will be provided by the IHM Youth Group.
