LAHS And LAMS Choir Concerts Coming Up

Choir Director Jason Rutledge and his 85 Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School students traveled to Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho April 17-18 to compete in the State Championships.

Three choirs performed or competed including; the LAMS Hawk Choir, LAHS Encore and LAHS Schola Cantorum, now 5A State Champions.

“I am so very proud of this group of students,” Rutledge said. “Countless hours went into preparation this semester. These students really went the extra mile required to have great success.”

Cathedral Of St. John’s 50-strong Choir Sings With Evensong Choir At TOTH Saturday

The 50-strong choir of the Cathedral of St. John, Albuquerque, directed by Maxine Thévenot, with Edmund Connolly, organ, will visit Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church in Los Alamos at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 9, to sing a service of Choral Evensong with the resident Evensong Choir.

What to say about a raunchy, silly, sappy musical in which half the characters are puppets? I loved it. “Avenue Q” opened Friday at Los Alamos Little Theater to raucous laughter and hoots of delight.

The Sangre de Cristo Chorale is celebrating American composers in its Spring Concert “American Voices” in Los Alamos at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2390 North Road.
