The Ad Hoc Octet, a brass ensemble made up of members of the Brave New Brass and the Black Mesa Brass quintets, will perform a Brown Bag Recital at noon today at Fuller Lodge. The public is invited to a Student Musicale at 2 p.m. Sunday at UNM-Los Alamos (Building 2). The Musicale will be followed at 3 p.m. by a Los Alamos Music Teachers Meeting.
Performers in the Musicale range in age from first grade through college-age. They include: violinist Jamie Philp accompanied by Susan Mendel; pianists Kathleen Brodnax, Zachary Griego-Dreicer, Karin Ebey, Sonja Ebey, Jennie Gao, Gala Nelson, Konstantin Nelson, Nikolai Nelson, Aidan Ortiz.

Rotarian Brian Newnam presented a classification talk at the April 15 Rotary Club meeting at the Manhattan Project Bar & Grill. Newnam was a laser physicist with Los Alamos National Laboratory for 30 years. As a violinist and violist, he has performed with the Orchestra of Santa Fe, the San Juan Symphony in Durango, and several other orchestras in Northern New Mexico.
