Los Alamos Choral Society Presents ‘Heroes, Explorers and Dreamers’ Sunday

The Los Alamos Choral Society (LACS) will give its spring concert, “Heroes, Explorers and Dreamers,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 25 at Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road in Los Alamos. Admission is $15 for adults and free for children and students. Tickets are available at CB FOX and at the door.

Mary Badarak will conduct, with Diane Chan, assistant conductor, Cindy Little, accompanist, and rehearsal assistance from Jason Rutledge. There will be an oboe solo by Anne Marie Peeters Weem.

Musicians, music educators and opera aficionados Greg Schneider and Dennis Davies-Wilson will give students a grand tour of this season’s Santa Fe Opera in Introduction to Opera, starting June 9 at UNM-Los Alamos.

Here we go folks! The 2014 LA County Summer Concert Series starts at 7 p.m. Friday, May 16 at Overlook Park in White Rock.

This will be the 25th Anniversary of the Series and it’ll be special. Friday’s show will be a part of the Los Alamos Arts Council’s Kite Festival (www.losalamosartcouncil.org/kite-festival).

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos recently held auditions for the annual Deborah Beene Music Award competition. The award was established in the memory of Deborah Beene, daughter of Donald and Sara Beene, a violin and piano student who died while enrolled in school here in 1973.
