JOHNNY RUSSELL HARPER Aug. 13, 1947 – Sept. 19, 2017

Johnny Russell Harper was born in San Francisco, California to parents Grant and Beatrice Harper. He was raised at the farm in Redrock, NM. After Johnny received his Master of Science Degree in Radiological Science in 1971, he moved to Los Alamos to start his career with University of California at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Johnny worked at Los Alamos until he retired in 2010.

He is survived by his wife Margaret of Corrales, NM and son Aaron of McPherson, Kansas. He is also survived by his sister Robin Wilson of Tucson, Arizona.

Kenneth J. Van Etten, age 71, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017. He was born in Madison, WI on March 15, 1946, to Edward Van Etten and Geraldine Milich. 

Kenneth graduated from Los Alamos High in 1964, went on to study at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM. In 1967 he enlisted in the Air Force where he served 4 years in Spain as a E5 Staff Sergeant. Fredie Nelson Farnsworth, 88, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, decided to celebrate the New Year in heaven. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 1, 2018.

Fredie was born in Klamath, CA, in 1929 in a small Indian village where his parents were missionaries. He always told the story that an Indian midwife delivered him, held him up, and made a pronouncement in her native tongue (which he would quote). Jack Carlson, 86, former resident of Los Alamos, NM, passed away December 26, 2017 after a struggle with Dementia.

Jack was born in 1931 in Lorain, OH to the late John and Julia Carlson.

Jack was a graduate of Lorain High School in Ohio and later graduated from Contra Costa College in California. Jack served as a Sargent in the Korean War. He later worked as an engineer for Westinghouse, Varian, and Lockheed Missiles and Space in CA.  He was an avid reader, poker player, woodworker, and artist.

Mary Louise Mariner, 90, of Los Alamos, New Mexico was called home by our Lord on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Christus Saint Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
