When it comes to New Mexico’s economy, there are no bigger players than the oil and gas industries which, combined, contribute 31 percent of the general fund.
Natural gas prices remain at historically-depressed levels. Since spiking during the winter of 2014 when the East Coast of the United States saw a series of cold snaps, the Henry Hub price has been on a steady decline. Throughout 2015, prices have been below the historically-low $3/mmbtu line.
Oil prices on the other hand, were elevated until July
By JEFFREY ROBERTSLos Alamos National Laboratory regularly purports to be supportive of Northern New Mexico, Los Alamos, and the surrounding communities.
They say how much they support local business, people, and outreach. I know they have a community outreach department for just such publicity.
So what do they do to express this support? They permanently close local salvage operations. They take what has been an institution at LANL, a program that has run for some 50 years or more, and give it to a Texas based company geared to selling to professional businesses.

By DAREN SAVAGEThe United States was founded as a Constitutional Republic. No where in our founding fathers’ writings can be found the word “democracy.”
But, Benjamin Franklin expressed it most succinctly, “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”

By JOEL M. WILLIAMSI did not comment in the County’s Forum before and see no need to do so now. The opinion of the vast majority of those who commented was clear to me.
Our system is supposed to be a democracy. This means that the will of the majority is to be legislated, and not the will of a minority who would dictate/mandate that “their morality” and their view of the “right thing to do” be imposed.
