By PATRICIA KOKESHThe latest letters to the editor have addressed many blunders that have happened recently but maybe there is time to stop one more mistake from creating chaos.
I find the new purposed “brand” is so arrogant and offensive that I think it will stop people from visiting rather than attracting anyone. The old brand “Where Discoveries Are Made” is so much more appropriate than “Live Exponentially.”
The County Council needs to be stopped from spending $250,000 on this outrageous mistake. Instead, that money should be shared with Read More
By ELIZABETH JACOBI agree with the two other published comments on the ugly starkness left behind by the so called “renovation” of our minute business strip on Central Avenue. Whoever planned this and ran it through without prior input from the public ought to be dismissed from public service in Los Alamos.
The two surviving trees from the “renovation” of 17 years ago and provided the only shade available in front of CB FOX and along that strip of Central Avenue at a cost of $10,000 per tree to save at that previos time of renovation, were hacked down without Read More

By VALARIE PRESTWOODI want to commend the county on a job well done; turning what had been a beautiful Central Avenue into one that is now boring, at best.
Not to mention the negative impact on what few businesses we have in this town. Read More
By LA Cares BoardWe’ve wrapped up Ruby K’s Yum Run for another year, but would indeed be remiss if we neglected to thank the many who pitched in to make it all happen.
A record 202 runners/walkers, together with all the sponsors, raised an overwhelming $7,235, significantly more than in any previous year. These funds, tucked away in our coffers, will be a tremendous help as cold weather settles in and the requests for both food and financial assistance, as usual, increase.
We deeply appreciate the extremely generous outpouring of community support, and look forward to the Read More

By Ken “Lucky” NadeauI would like to personally thank all the members of The American Legion, Frank G. Frainier Post 90; and the membership of the Fraternal Organizations of the BPOE, VFW, Knights of Columbus, and the Military Order of World Wars for their support in making the 2014 Veteran’s Day Ceremony such a success.
A very special thanks goes to the Los Alamos Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and especially Brownie Troop 10357 from White Rock who sang “Thank You Soldier’s”.
To the young adults of the LAHS Chorus and NJROTC Read More
By JOYCE WOLFFI apologize to prospective buyers who have tried to find Dimas Chavez’s Book On My Own.
I wrote in my review of the book that copies were available at the Los Alamos History Museum and on Amazon. The Los Alamos Daily Post kindly added a link to the Amazon site.
I discovered on Friday morning that the shipment of books to the museum has been delayed a week and that the books on Amazon are now back ordered.
The books will eventually be available and I apologize if any buyer was inconvenienced. Read More
By DANA LIPPIATT-WOODMoving to Los Alamos, New Mexico from Salem, Ohio created a deep sadness and fear in me back in August of 1968. Aching and unsure of myself, I signed up for Girl’s Glee Club because that’s what I did: I sang.
Sheldon Kalberg became my sunshine. He gave me wings so I could fly. He was an oasis in that teen-aged desert. Singing for him healed my heart. He directed with a profound understanding of the music, the words, and the individuals in his choirs. I learned not only how to sing better, but also how to perform better and, most importantly, how to BE the music. Read More
