NMSP Officer-Involved Shooting With Española Police

ESPAÑOLA — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was contacted Tuesday, Nov. 22 to investigate an officer-involved shooting involving the Española Police Department (EPD).

Agents learned at around 12 p.m. that the Española Police Department (EPD) responded to the Pajarito Housing at 125 B Calle Del Sol in Española, in reference to a domestic violence call.

When EPD officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with the suspect, identified as Jerome Naranjo, at the front door of the residence. Naranjo attempted to close the door on officers but was unsuccessful. Read More

FBI: Shiprock Man Charged With Assault With Dangerous Weapon

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Deon Joe Bidtah was arraigned Nov. 10 on a three-count indictment charging him with assault with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and assault on a federal officer with a deadly and dangerous weapon.

Bidtah, 23, of Shiprock, New Mexico, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, will remain in custody pending trial, which has not been scheduled.

NMSP Identifies Student Killed On UNM Campus

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was requested to investigate a homicide Nov. 19 on the main campus of the University of New Mexico (UNM).

State Police investigators learned that at about 3:00 a.m. there was an altercation between UNM student Brandon Travis, 19, of Albuquerque, and a 21-year-old NMSU student. During the altercation, both individuals sustained gunshot wounds.

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced Nov. 10 that a federal grand jury indicted Jeffrey Steven Clay on one count each of kidnapping and transportation for illegal sexual activity.
