This report presents statistics about school resource officers, based on data from the first-time Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) Survey of Law Enforcement Personnel in Schools (SLEPS) agency survey, which was developed as a part of the Department of Justice Comprehensive School Safety Initiative.

Udate: Power Restored To Los Alamos Townsite

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities crews have located and repaired the problem and power is now restored to the townsite. 

Electric linemen found a feeder to the townsite from Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Technical Area-3 had opened up and caused loss of power to circuits 13, 15 and 16.

The linemen moved the shared load to another feeder to restore power at 9:30 a.m. today for all customers. Read More

DPU Aware Of Power Outages … Don’t Call Police Dispatch

The community is experiencing power outages on North Mesa, Guaje Pines, along Walnut Street, around Los Alamos Medical Center and other areas of the Los Alamos townsite.

The Los Alamos Police Department is asking residents NOT to call police dispatch as the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is aware of the outages and work to repair them is underway.

FBI: Naschitti Man Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter In Indian Country

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced today that Donavan Henry made an initial appearance in federal court Nov. 8 facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter in Indian Country. Henry, 39, of Naschitti, New Mexico, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, will remain on conditions of release pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 14.

FBI: Previously Convicted Felon Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison For Federal Drug Trafficking, Firearms Offenses

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, announced that Gabriel “Karma” Blea was sentenced Nov. 8 to a term of 15 years in prison.

Blea, 25, of Albuquerque, pleaded guilty July 13 to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute 50 grams and more of methamphetamine, and possessing a firearm during and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

NMSP News:

LAS VEGAS, N.M. — New Mexico State Police (NMSP) is asking the public for assistance in locating Josephine Martinez, a 34-year-old female who is 5’3, 130 lbs., with green eyes and long brown hair.

She was last seen at around 4 p.m., Oct. 23, 2022, on the 2900 block of Navajo Street in Las Vegas.

Her clothing description and method and direction of travel are not known.

FBI: Mexican Springs Man Sentenced To Six And A Half Years In Prison For Manslaughter

ALBUQUERQUE —  Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, announced that Quinten Smith, 22, of Mexican Springs, N.M., and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, was sentenced Nov. 7 to six years and six months in prison for manslaughter in Indian Country.

Smith pleaded guilty May 16.
