Johnathan D. Gonzales, 29, of Los Alamos was found guilty of driving under the influence and open container Thursday in Los Alamos Municipal Court in connection with his March 8 arrest.

Additional charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were dismissed under a plea agreement and the original charge of aggravated DWI was changed to DWI first offense.

A jury trial for Garrett Thayne Katcher, 33, of Los Alamos is slated to begin Wednesday morning in Los Alamos Magistrate Court on a charge of aggravated battery against a household member. Los Alamos resident Jean Jones suggests that all hikers over 60 years of age know the trails they hike and take someone with them. Jones was rescued Monday night after Los Alamos Police Sgt. Tim Lonz and Los Alamos Fire Department responded to a report that a woman had fallen in an area of the canyon behind the Jewish Center on Canyon Road.
