Armed Robbery Suspect Lane M. Reed Faces Additional Charges Following Multiple Jurisdiction Crime Spree

SANDOVAL COUNTY Tuesday, July 25, New Mexico State Police arrested Lane M. Reed, 23, of Killeen, Texas for multiple charges after he led officers on an approximate 25 mile pursuit, during which Lane fired gunshots at officers at least three separate times.
 
The incident began around 8:30 a.m. when New Mexico State Police officers were dispatched to an armed robbery call at the Pecos River Station, a gas station and convenience store located on Interstate 25 at mile marker 319 in San Miguel County.

Large Boulder Damages Car On Truck Route

Los Alamos police temporarily closed the Truck Route to traffic Saturday night after a large boulder fell onto the roadway just east of the LANSCE facility. A passing car collided with the boulder, damaging the car, which had to be towed from the scene. The driver was not injured. Los Alamos Police Sgt. ALBUQUERQUE  Xavior Akina, 20, of Albuquerque entered a guilty plea in Federal Court to violating the Hobbs Act by robbing a pizza delivery person March 7, 2016.
 
Akina was charged in a three-count indictment filed May 10, 2016, with violating the Hobbs Act March 6, 2016, by robbing a Domino’s Pizza employee at gunpoint, and March 7, 2016, by robbing a Papa John’s Pizza employee at gunpoint, and violating the firearms laws by brandishing a firearm during those crimes of violence. FBI: Las Cruces Man Sentenced To Almost Seven Years For Assaulting Federal Law Enforcement Officers

ALBUQUERQUE  Richard Ruiz Leyva, 37, of Las Cruces, was sentenced July 18 in federal court to 82 months in prison for assaulting federal law enforcement officers.
 
Leyva will be on supervised release for three years after completing his prison sentence.

The Los Alamos Police Department Dispatch telephones (non-emergency number 505.662.8222) are back in service.

The pnoes were temporarily unavailable for about 30 minutes this morning while the phone system was moved over to a new UPS as part of a system upgrade.

An alternate phone number was available while the system was upgrading.

Joseph Allen Lovato Sentenced For Third DWI

Staff Report 

Joseph Allen Lovato, 33, of Los Alamos was found guilty of driving under the influence – third offense, July 17 in First Judicial Court in Santa Fe pursuant to a global and repeat offender plea agreement.

Lovato was arrested by Los Alamos Police Cpl. David Boe July 4 following a traffic stop. He also was charged with speeding (21-25 miles over) and driving on a revoked or suspended license. Those charges were dismissed under the plea agreement.
