UPDATE: The County just released a statement saying The Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) has completed its investigation at the site of the single engine plane crash that occurred at approximately 8:10 a.m. today on Canyon Rim Trail just south of the Los Alamos Airport. The OMI findings have not yet been released.

A tip into the Albuquerque bomber task force, created to locate and arrest the suspect in the November Probation and Parole attacks, led investigators from New Mexico Corrections, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and Albuquerque Police Department to a property near 2nd and Rio Bravo in Albuquerque Friday night.

ALERT: Accident – Traffic at Standstill on Truck Route

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT:

A 3-vehicle accident on the truck route has brought traffic to a standstill at 6:20 p.m. today. 

Los Alamos Fire Department EMS has transpoted four patients to Los Alamos Medical Center.

Los Alamos police have shut down the truck route – motorists should seek alternate routes to allow emergency responders to attend to their work at the scene.

Los Alamos High School Student Died Today

Los Alamos High School student Tyler Van Anne passed away this afternoon. A prayer service is being held tonight at 6 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Canyon Road.
 
The Los Alamos Teen Center at Canyon Road and Diamond Drive also is open for teens who would like to gather outside of the service.
 
The Sandoval County Sheriffs Department is investigating Van Anne’s death, which occured in Sandoval County. No further details are available at this time.

Attorney John Day filed a complaint in First District Court in Santa Fe this afternoon against Los Alamos National Security, LLC, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Anthony “Tony” R. Stanford for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent hiring, supervision and retention.

Los Alamos Police Commander Faces Poaching Charges; Jailer Faces Battery with Deadly Weapon

A citation was filed Nov. 22 in Alamogordo Magistrate Court against Los Alamos Police Commander Preston Ballew.

Ballew, 36, was charged with two counts of unlawful hunting or fishing (killing elk) and one count of vehicle travel under habitat protection act (trespassing.) Ofc. Jason Kline issued Ballew the citation Oct. 7.

Ballew is commander of the Los Alamos Bomb Squad. The Alamogordo Magistrate Court clerk said this morning that an arraignment for Ballew is scheduled for Dec. 10 in Alamogordo.
