Los Alamos County Administrator Harry Burgess issued the following statement today with regard to Wednesday’s filing of a lawsuit against the County by two former Los Alamos police commanders and a detective:

“Late Wednesday afternoon we were notified by media that the law office of George Geran chose to release to them a lawsuit supposedly filed against the County by three current/former LAPD officers.

Los Alamos police are investigating reports of an older man spotted lurking behind bushes near New Horizons Center preschool and daycare at 580 Meadow Lane, and in an arroyo near Chamisa Elementary, 301 Meadow Lane, which students walk by on their way home from school.

Student Shoots Two Classmates at Roswell School

A 12-year-old boy shot a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy at about 7:30 a.m. today at Berrendo Middle School in Roswell. The injured students were airlifted to a Lubbock, Texas hospital.

News reports indicate that the girl has been upgraded to serious condition but the boy, who was shot in the face, remains critical.

A man wearing a white surgical mask robbed the New Mexico Bank and Trust at 1549 Paseo De Peralta in Santa Fe Wednesday. The FBI and Santa Fe Police Department are looking for the robber, described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’8” to 6′ tall, between 35-40 years old, and with a stocky, muscular build. He wore a gray hoodie, white surgical mask, dark pants and dark shoes.
