NMSP Arrest Dangerous, Wanted Felon In Rio Arriba County

NMSP News:

VELARDE — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Crime Suppression Bureau on Dec. 19, 2024, gathered intelligence on the whereabouts of 43-year-old Daniel Romero, who was wanted for multiple violent felony warrants.

NMSP Crime Suppression Bureau and Uniform Bureau Officers arrived at a residence on 1040 Private Drive to apprehend Romero.

With the assistance of the NMSP Tactical Team, Romero exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

New Mexico State Police Conduct Statewide Traffic Ops

NMSP News:

New Mexico State Police (NMSP) on Dec. 20, 2024, conducted traffic operations throughout the state. The goal of the operation was to curb dangerous driving, enforce moving violations, and create a heavy presence of law enforcement officers.

“Keeping the roadways safe as we near the holidays is a top priority of the New Mexico State Police.” –NMSP

During the four-hour operation, NMSP officers contacted more than 400 drivers, issued 585 citations and made 15 arrests, 3 of which were DWIs. Citations issued ranged from violations such as speeding, no insurance and no seatbelt.

FBI-Albq. Warns Of Government Impersonation Scams

FBI News:

FBI-Albuquerque is issuing a public warning of Government Impersonation Scams.

The FBI, along with other federal, state, local, and tribal partners are working together to investigate cases where scammers are using advanced spoofing scams to steal the public’s hard-earned money.

According to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), there have been Nationwide reported losses of more than $33 million due to Government Impersonation scams from January through November 2024. New Mexico State Police Investigate Home Invasion In La Luz … Family Of Five Uninjured, Suspect Deceased

LA LUZ, NM — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was requested to investigate a homicide in La Luz. Investigators learned that at around 8:48 p.m. Dec. 14, 2024, New Mexico State Police officers were dispatched to 85 Appler Road in reference to a breaking and entering call where a shot had been fired by the homeowner.

New Mexico State Police Probe Quadruple Homicide In Belen

NMSP News:

BELEN – On Dec. 14, 2024, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was requested to investigate a quadruple homicide that occurred at a residence on Camino Escondido in Belen.

Agents learned that at around 3:30 a.m., the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Diego Leyva,16, who told the dispatcher he had killed his family.

When deputies arrived, Diego walked out of the residence with his hands in the air and was extremely intoxicated. He was taken into custody without incident.
