9th Annual Atomic City Winter Classic Adult Ice Hockey Tournament Friday Jan. 23 Through Sunday Jan. 25

Desert Sol Inline & Hockey is hosting the 9th Annual Atomic City Winter Classic Adult Ice Hockey Tournament.

The tournament runs from 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23 through 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 in the Los Alamos County Ice Rink.

This year’s tournament features three divisions of four teams each:

  •  Advanced;
  • Intermediate; and
  • Novice Divisions.

Work To Continue On Camp May Road Jan. 20-22

COUNTY News:

While Los Alamos County and contractor DUB-L-EE had planned to pause road and utility work on Camp May Road starting Friday, that plan is being revised to include a road closure from Tuesday through Thursday of next week, Jan. 20-22.

Work on the Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project (JMFPP) began last April and with unseasonably warm temperatures, the winter pause that was originally scheduled for Dec. 1 hasn’t yet been necessary.

This project includes installation of waterlines and conduit for electric and fiber lines up to Pajarito Mountain.

There are big plans to enhance the recreation amenities on North Mesa; the big question is does Los Alamos County have the time and money to implement them.

The stocking of rainbow trout resumed this past week in Northern New Mexico. Catchable-size rainbow trout were stocked at many locations. Check in the fishing reports to see how many and when trout were stocked. If they were not stocked let week, the most recent stocking  will be included. There was some very cold weather over the weekend, Below-zero temperatures were recorded at some locations. This could help get the ice-fishing season going.
