SFNF To Lift Stage I Fire Restrictions Thursday

SFNF News:

The Santa Fe National Forest will lift campfire and smoking restrictions effective 8 a.m. Thursday, July 28, due to widespread rain across the forest and decreasing fire danger. 

The forest implemented Stage I fire restrictions July 15 based on dry conditions and higher-than-normal temperatures.

SANTA FE — Today, Gov. Susana Martinez announced that more people are visiting New Mexico’s state parks than ever before.

Last year, New Mexico state parks welcomed more than 5 million visitors – 1 million more than 2014. The announcement comes on the heels of the Governor announcing record-breaking tourism numbers for the fourth consecutive year.

SANTA FE – Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest are planning to conduct two prescribed burns on the Coyote Ranger District this fall.

The 5,041-acre French Mesa treatment area is approximately 10 miles north of Gallina and the 470-acre Mesa Potrero pile burn located approximately seven miles northwest of the community of Coyote.
