The Los Alamos Mountaineers meeting will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.18, a little earlier than usual, at Fuller Lodge. 

The group needs to handle its election and regular announcements/business meeting before a special program by a world class outdoorsman. Vosburgh made a speech thanking all of the many volunteers that made the refurbishment of the facility possible and all of the members of his team that spent long hours moving and setting up equipment including a new peg-board climbing wall, beams, and parallel bars.

With the most recent storm, Pajarito Mountain received 3″ of fresh snow and began snowmaking operations Thursday, Nov. 5 as crews prepare for ski season, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27. 

Crews will continue making snow the next few days as weather conditions allow. More snow is in the forecast for early next week.

Access To Los Alamos Reservoir And Surrounding Area Closed Nov. 9, 2015 Through June 30, 2016

COUNTY News:

Pedestrian and motor vehicle access to the Los Alamos Reservoir will be restricted Monday, Nov. 9, and continue through June 2016. 

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities awarded a contract to CBKN Dirtworks, Inc. to restore the reservoir after several flood events filled it with sediment and compromised the access road.

SFNF Waives Fees In Honor Of Veterans Day

SANTA FE  The Santa Fe National Forest will honor Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, by waiving fees at many recreation sites and amenities.
Fees at all national forests and grasslands will be waived at many day-use sites, such as picnic grounds and developed trailheads, in cooperation with other federal agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act.
 
Veterans Day is the last fee-free day for 2015.

CROP Hunger Walk & Turkey Trot Nov. 22

COMMUNITY News:

The Annual CROP Hunger Walk and Turkey Trot starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 at Los Alamos Middle School on North Mesa. 

There will be 2.56 mile and 1.7 mile courses available that start and end at LAMS. Participants can run or walk the courses. Anyone who fills out a chance ticket will be eligible to win turkeys or pumpkin pies.

Sign up begins at 1 p.m. in the LAMS cafeteria. A pot luck will be available. CROP T-shirts will be available for those who wish to contribute. Donations to CROP are gratefully accepted.

The cover over the stage at Ashley Pond Park has been removed, the large boulders have been put in front of the road leading to Camp May, and the water in the parks is turned off.
