Council Tentatively Approves CEDD Budget With Addition Of New Building Official/Safety Officer

The Los Alamos County Council voted 5-2 to tentatively approve the Community and Economic Development Department’s FY-2016 proposed budget as presented with the addition of one full time building official/safety officer to augment the one building official/safety officer currently on staff. The CEDD, with a budget of $13.42 percent comprises 14 percent of the County’s General Fund. Listening Sessions Set For May To Discuss Valles Caldera Transition To National Park

NPS News:

The Intermountain Region of the National Park Service (NPS) will hold three public listening sessions in northern New Mexico next month to discuss the transition in management of Valles Caldera National Preserve from the Valles Caldera Trust (Trust) to the NPS.

The meetings are scheduled each day 6-8:30 p.m., May 11-13 in Albuquerque, Jemez Springs and Los Alamos.

Patrons may bring food into Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op and until the brewing equipment is fully up and running – a variety of New Mexico beers from other establishments will be served. House beers should start coming online in about three weeks.

SFNF Firewood Permits Go On Sale May 4

SFNF News:

SANTA FE Firewood permits for dead and down timber are now available for purchase at Santa Fe National Forest Headquarters and most Ranger District offices. 

The Española Ranger District will begin fuelwood permit sales May 4.

The nonrefundable permits are for personal use only and may be purchased for $20 for five cords with a maximum of 10 cords per household per year. Customers may purchase permits by check, credit/debit card or cash through Dec. 31, 2015. Permit purchasers will receive load tags, a fuelwood cutting map and guidelines for harvesting the wood.

Jesse Woodroffe had the top prediction in the weekly pace race held out on North Mesa by the Rodeo Arena. He was only 2 seconds off his predicted time. 
 
Lauraine Maness was next with a 3 second differential followed by Jessica Baumgaertel at 4 seconds off. Cecilia Rivenburgh and Ted Romero were both at 7 seconds.
