Valles Caldera Trust Proposes More Affordable Fee Structure

Jemez Springs – The Valles Caldera Trust Board of Trustees voted unanimously Thursday to amend the fees assessed for admission to, and the use and occupancy of, the Valles Caldera National Preserve.

The proposal will replace the current system, in which fees are assessed based on an a la carte, per person basis, with a more streamlined and cost-effective entry fee system. County Anticipates Re-Opening Aquatic Center By Dec. 12

COUNTY News:

As previously announced, the project at the Walkup Aquatics Center to replace the heating and cooling systems and boilers is behind schedule.

It is anticipated that the pool will re-open to the public at some point prior to Dec. 31, and based on the contractor’s current schedule, this re-opening date should be on or before Dec. 12, barring any further unforeseen project complications.

Los Alamos County Working To Re-Open Aquatics Center

COUNTY News:

The Walkup Aquatics Center Project to replace the HVAC and boilers is behind schedule. The contractor has not made the completion date and the County is holding the contractor accountable per the provisions of the contract.

The equipment is installed, connected and running. As the systems are being brought online the crews are working to confirm that the equipment is installed as specified and establish communications between the controls and equipment.

The Los Alamos Triatomics Club announces the 2014 Christmas Lights Runs. Here’s an opportunity to check out the town’s Christmas lights and get a little exercise to burn off that extra slice of Thanksgiving pie.  

We will run through various Los Alamos neighborhoods to check out their outdoor lights. The routes are mostly on quiet residential streets to avoid the noise and smell of traffic. Non club members are welcome to run with us.

JEMEZ SPRINGS – The Valles Caldera Trust (Trust) Board of Trustees (Board) will conduct a public meeting 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in Albuquerque.

Walk In The Woods With Mary Venable

Mary Venable conducts a Walk in the Woods group from the Betty Ehart Senior Center each Thursday on various exciting trails around Los Alamos. Last Thursday she took the group to Bandelier and then up Frijoles Canyon for a ways. It is a beautiful stretch of country with many beautiful views. The group saw several deer and many birds. They also got some much needed exercise.
