Free YMCA Thanksgiving Day Workout

YMCA News:

Have some fun and burn some calories with The Family YMCA fitness instructors during a free Thanksgiving Day fitness class. 

The class is open to the public and will be held 9-10 a.m., Thursday in the Y gymnasium on Iris Street.

Los Amigos Christmas Tree Sales Begin Friday

Los Amigos is working with the Valles Caldera National Preserve to offer Christmas Trees once again. All proceeds from the sale go to help projects on the Preserve including restoration of wetlands, roads, streams and recreation opportunities.

The Mountain Club is a member of USA Swimming.

Bandelier Announces Holiday Season Events

Bandelier National Monument has announced its schedule for the upcoming holidays, and also two special events.

Saturday, Dec. 13, Bandelier’s Artist-in-Residence, well-known photographer David Halpern, will be offering a photo hike in Frijoles Canyon. Numbers are limited, so anyone interested in attending must call the park Visitor Center at 505.672.3861 x 51 to sign up. There is no charge for the walk beyond the park entrance fee. Walkup Aquatic Center HVAC And Boiler Replacement Reopening Delayed

COUNTY News:

The project at the Walkup Aquatics Center was originally planned to reopen to the public in mid-November. The pool is not ready yet but will reopen soon. 

The pool closed Aug. 17 after the Los Alamos Triathlon for this project. The $2.2 million project replaces the 26-year-old boilers and HVAC for the entire building.

When the organizers of the JMTR (Jemez Mountain Trail Run) approached the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) last spring about volunteering to manage the Pipeline Road aid station, PEEC staff and volunteers jumped at the chance to help out such a worthwhile cause.
