Sabino Creek: Sabino Creek flows from higher in the Santa Catalina Mountains and becomes the focal point of Sabino Canyon Recreation Area. Water from winter snowfall and the summer rains keeps the small creek flowing throughout the year. The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is honored to participate in the Special Olympics Torch Run, an annual tradition that supports Special Olympic athletes and their inspiring achievements. This year’s event begins at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 29.

Teddy Atkins was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held on the trail behind the Aquatic Center at 28 seconds off his predicted time. 

Other accurate predictors were Madeline Harms with a 47 second differential, Adrian Medin at 69 seconds off, Warren Scoggins recording a 92 second difference, and Lynn Bjorklund at 97 seconds off as well as the first female finisher in the 5K race at 29:37.

On the paved road 1-mile race Steve Daly was the best finisher with a time 10:52 and Kathy Daly was the top female finisher at 13:34.

Camp May Road Construction To Pause On Memorial Day

PAJARITO News:

Road construction occurring on Camp May Road under the regional Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project (JMFPP) will be on hold Monday, May 26, in observance of the federal Memorial Day holiday.

For the public, this means Camp May and Pajarito Mountain will be accessible for a day longer than usual this weekend.

Camping at Camp May is limited to Friday and Saturday nights on a first-come, first-served basis this year to allow for full work capacity on the project. On most weekends, the entrance/exit to Camp May is closed and locked from midday Sundays through Thursdays. This weekend Read More
