Los Alamos Girls Competitive Soccer Tryouts Begin May 15

LAYSL News:

The Los Alamos Youth Soccer League (LAYSL) Girls Competitive Program would like to invite all girls interested in playing competitive soccer in Fall 2025/Spring 2026 to participate in the upcoming tryouts.

All tryouts are 5-6:30 p.m.

  • Thursday May 15: Western Area Field – U11 (2015);
  • Friday May 16 Middle School – U13 (2013) – U14+ (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009);
  • Monday May 19 North Mesa – U11 (2015) – U12 (2014); and
  • Wednesday May 21 North Mesa – U12 (2014) – U13 (2013) – U14+ (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009).

County 2025 Bike To Work Event Scheduled For May 15

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Public Works Department, along with the Transportation Board and Community Services Department, invites residents to participate in the “Bike to Work” event Thursday, May 15.

Cyclists are encouraged to visit the Energizer Station, 7-9 a.m. at the northwest corner of Diamond Drive and Canyon Road. Here, participants can enjoy refreshments, snacks and receive bike-related giveaways.

Tuesday Pace Race Schedule Updates

Tuesday’s Race, scheduled at 6 p.m., May 6, was cancelled due to weather. This race will probably be held again in another month to month-in-a half.

Bike & Roll To School Event At Piñon Elementary May 7

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Public Works Department, in partnership with Piñon Elementary School, would like to inform the community that a “Bike to School” event will take place 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Piñon Elementary School at 90 Grand Canyon Drive in White Rock.

As students ride their bikes to school, they will be using both roadways and sidewalks. Motorists are urged to exercise increased caution in the Piñon Elementary School Zone and are reminded to follow the County’s “5 Foot to Pass” ordinance when passing cyclists.
