SANTA FE–Senate Memorial 36 sponsored by Sen. Michael Padilla, D-Bernalillo, cleared the Senate.

The legislation seeks to complete the final phase of funding for the Valle de Oro Urban Wildlife Refuge located along the Rio Grande River in the southern portion of Bernalillo County. Eighty acres remain to be purchased to complete the project, and the legislation will ask the federal government to make this purchase.

With continuing mild winter weather, the Los Alamos Golf Course is planning to open the golf course Friday, Feb. 14. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week through March 8, weather permitting. 

The first tee time is 10 a.m., the range will open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 4 p.m., due to the need to “hand pick.” Weekday tee times may be made three days in advance. JEMEZ SPRINGS–The Valles Caldera Board of Trustees today named Dr. Tim Haarmann interim executive director of the Valles Caldera Trust.
