Rio Rancho Archer Takes Top Honors At National Contest

ALBUQUERQUE — In March, 85 New Mexico youth archers competing at the 2023 New Mexico National Archery in the School Program (NASP) State Championship qualified to participate in the Western Nationals Championship.

Almost 2,000 youth archers from 25 states competed for individual and team awards at the NASP Western Nationals Championship held April 28-29 at the Mountain America Center in Sandy, Utah.

Purgatory Ski Resort Bids Farewell To Winter 2022-2023

Purgatory Ski Resort has announced the official end of ski season is Sunday, May 14.

This season, Purgatory received more than 31 feet of snow, an amount only recorded three times since the Durango-area ski resort opened in 1965. As a result, Purgatory extended the ski season by three weeks, from April 23 to May 14, allowing for May skiing and riding for the second time in resort history.

AAU Basketball Team Hosts Fundraiser At Sullivan Saturday!

SPORTS News:

The AAU Basketball Team “Game Day” is holding a fundraiser, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this Saturday at Sullivan Field.

The fundraiser includes a Mother’s Day Car Wash and Bake Sale.

The team is hoping to raise money to pay for tournament fees for the upcoming season.

This week’s road trip went up to the beautiful Chama River Valley in Northern New Mexico. Thanks to the wet winter we just came out of the pastures along the river are a bright, shimmering green. The rivers are running bank-to-bank and even higher with spring runoff. Brazos Falls is running and the cattle already look fat and healthy.

One thing of note in the State Game and Fish Department’s stocking report was the stocking of Gila trout in Lake Roberts near Silver City and in Whitewater Creek. These fish averaged 17 inches in length.
