Jonathan Dowell Crosses 15th Finish Line At 2025 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic And 50 Years With Diabetes

On May 24, 2025, Jonathan Dowell of Los Alamos completed his 15th ride in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic. This grueling ride from Durango to Silverton, Colo., is nominally 50 miles, climbing 6,000 vertical feet across Coal Bank and Molas Passes with two breathtaking descents. Teddy Atkins was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held on the trail behind the Aquatic Center at 28 seconds off his predicted time. 

Other accurate predictors were Madeline Harms with a 47 second differential, Adrian Medin at 69 seconds off, Warren Scoggins recording a 92 second difference, and Lynn Bjorklund at 97 seconds off as well as the first female finisher in the 5K race at 29:37.

Los Alamos Football Club had a fantastic showing at the Mother’s Day tournament on May 10-11 in beautiful Durango, CO. The U12 Boys (2013) LA Lions team continued their recent strong run by staying undefeated in 4 games and winning their Silver bracket on Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday the Lions won their first game 5-2 against DC Force with strong performances from Zaiden McClellan (who scored a hat-trick!), Timothy Blair, and James Junghans.
