YMCA Youth Soccer Registration Ends Aug. 18

 
YMCA News:
 
Registration is open until August 18 for the YMCA’s Developmental Youth Soccer Program for ages 4-5 and 6-7.
 
Practices & Games are 2x per week in Los Alamos and White Rock from Aug. 24-Oct. 1. Volunteer Coaches and Team parents needed.
 
Teams are small (6-8 players) so all get plenty of skills practice and play time. Cost is $62 / $41 for Y Members.
 
The Family YMCA is a 501c3 nonprofit charity, ensuring access to all because of donations to our annual campaign, and financial assistance

This weekend’s premier Los Alamos Rock n’ Roll EnduroFest 2 tested the endurance and skill of the best mountain bike riders in the Southwest.

Enduro racing consists mostly of downhill racing, but with an endurance element. The two day, seven stage event features 2,100 feet of elevation gain and more than 7,100 feet of descending.

Progressive Fighting Systems Of New Mexico Teaching Martial Arts To Special Needs Children At No Charge

Progressive Fighting Systems of New Mexico, as part of its global initiative to engage with children in need, will teach special needs children at no charge.

These lessons will be conducted at High Flyers Gymnastics at 15th Street and Central Avenue and can be done with private instruction or with a group of special needs children depending on the needs of the child. Season’s Final Splash n Dash Results

TRIATOMICS CLUB News:

Results of the final Splash n Dash of the 2015 season have been announced and are listed below.

Other upcoming events for the Triatomics Club include a training “Brick” this Saturday. Anyone is welcome but this brick will be targeted toward first timers. We’ll ride and run the course of the Los Alamos Triathlon and spend some time talking about the transitions and pre-race preparations. We’ll leave at 7 a.m. from the front of the Aquatic Center.

Candia was just 2 seconds off her predicted time, and Mary Snow was just 3 seconds off, both running the 3 mile course. The next best predictor was Roy Cope with a 9 second adjusted time in the 1 mile race.

The second annual Valles Caldera PyroClassic XC Mountain Bike Race got underway this morning.

Considered one of the most scenic and challenging mountain bike races in New Mexico, the race courses for Pro/Cat1, Intermediate/Cat 2, and Beginners/Cat3 cover the stunning landscape of the Valles Caldera National Preserve, winding through valley meadows and climbing over the flanks of the volcanic upheaval of 11,000 foot Redondo Peak.
