Alex Kirk To Play Pro Basketball In Italy

Los Alamos High graduate and former UNM Lobo Alex Kirk is heading overseas.

“I’m excited to announce that I will be playing for Giorgio Tesi Group Pistoia in Pistoia, Italy,” Kirk said in an Instagram message to the Los Alamos Daily Post. “This is the third professional contract I have signed and I want to thank everyone who has helped and supported me.”

Giorgio Tesi Group Pistoia is a professional team in Italy’s top league and Kirk said he believes his shot to play in the NBA is only going to get better.

Perfect running weather greeted 32 runners and walkers for the Tuesday evening New Pipeline Gutbuster Pace Race. The 1 and 3.2 mile courses were on steep terrain in the Quemazon and Pipeline Road areas. All errors from predicted times to actual times were adjusted to a 3 mile distance.

Los Alamos Swimmer Sarah Lott Sets Bar High

Sarah Lott, a senior this fall at Los Alamos High School, had an exciting summer, qualifying for her first USA Swimming Junior National competition when she swam at the American Long Course Finals meet in Dallas a few weeks ago.

Lott qualified with a 58.36 in her 100-meter freestyle, and also got the 200-meter freestyle bonus cut time with a 2:06.03. Ryan Smeltzer predicted very well and was only 5 seconds off for 4 miles at Tuesday’s Atomic City Road Runners weekly Pace Race.

Georgia Pedicini was 11 seconds off for 2 miles, and Nikol Strother’s delta time for 6 miles was 25 seconds.
