Mireya Martinez of Santa Cruz was crowned Princess Miss Rodeo New Mexico 2015-2016 during the annual Miss Rodeo New Mexico Pageant (MRNMP) June 2-5 in Clovis.
 
Martinez also is the winner of the Pageant Horsemanship Award. She will be an ambassador for Rodeo, especially at the youth level, and appear in public relation projects.

The annual Los Alamos YMCA’s Firecracker 5K Family Fun Run is open to all ages who want to walk, run or jog in this festive event.

Prizes will go to the top male and female finishers in Youth (under 14), Adult (14-59), Adult 60+ catagories, and one prize will go to the fastest dog jogger. SPORTS News:

Los Alamos County Little League 9-10 athletes took District Wednesday evening in a tournament against Santa Fe and Espanola.

The team won 22-16 in a hard fought battle. The game went into the night as both teams worked hard to come out District Champions but Los Alamos County did it. They move onto Silver City July 17-19 and if they come out of that tournament they will proceed to the State Tournament in Albuquerque.  

The Los Alamos boys have only lost one game in the tournament in Espanola.

It was a hot and dry evening, but 52 runners turned out for Tuesday’s Atomic City Road Runners Pace Race.

Joan Williams was the best predictor in Tuesday’s Pace Race, only 9 secs off adjusted, on the figure 8 course in Bayo and Rendija Canyons.
