PACE RACE News:

Twenty nine runners and walkers participated in Tuesday night’s pace race. 

Two courses were available, a paved course on the shoulder of route 501 or a rugged and challenging course on an old wagon road in the hills overlooking S-site with magnificent vistas of the mesas to the east all the way to Rio Grande valley and beyond.

One mile course results:

• Susan Krohn (error adjusted for 3 miles) 72 seconds
• Inez Ross (error adjusted for 3 miles) 120 seconds
• Patricia Burnside (error adjusted for 3 miles) 144 seconds, also

Ann Stewart

LAHS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools has announced that Ann Stewart has been selected as the next athletic director of Los Alamos High School. 

Stewart was born in Los Alamos and attended Chamisa, Aspen, Pinon, Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School, where she graduated in 1991. She earned All-State honors in both soccer and basketball as a student athlete for Los Alamos High School. She attended Creighton University on a soccer scholarship until a back injury ended her soccer career.

Los Alamos soccer enthusiasts, friends, and families are invited to celebrate Jiri Kubicek’s contributions to Los Alamos Soccer. The party will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Rover Park in White Rock. Bring a side dish to share: veggies, fruit salad, appetizers or dessert. Alex Kirk left Florida this morning and is now in Chicago where he will tryout Tuesday with the Bulls.

Kirk, 22, of Los Alamos was a Lobos basketball player who graduated May 16 from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a business degree.

He announced in April that he would forgo his senior season and declare for the NBA Draft. His father Alan Kirk confirmed with the Los Alamos Daily Post today that 12 teams have invited Kirk to tryout.

The National High School Athletic Coaches Association has announced the advancement of Los Alamos resident Allan Lockridge, a coach at Pojoaque Valley High School, as a finalist for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association’s National Coach of the Year in the sport of Boys Cross Country.

The Los Alamos High School Volleyball team is hosting a Summer Youth Skills Camp in June. The camp is open to both girls and boys entering 3rd through 8th grade.

• Session I June 9-12: Students entering 3rd through 5th grade

• Session II June 16-19: Students entering 6th through 8th grade
