Toppers Hold Own Against #3 Belen, but Lose 28-14

The week after #3 Belen lost a close game to #1 Goddard, #17 Los Alamos came to town. The #2 team (St Pius, which LA should have beat if not for turnovers and some questionable penalties in the last few minutes) lost Friday night and Belen is expected to move into the #2 spot.

Duane Marr and Bob Reedy tied for most accurate predictor at 3 seconds off their predicted times at the pace race held Tuesday, Sept. 24 on North Mesa.
 
Three-year-old Diego Leonard was the top male finisher on the one-mile course with a time of 11:15 and was only 9 seconds off his estimated time. Isolina Leonard and Zach Medin were tied at a 12 second differential and Medin was also the first male finisher in the three-mile distance at 24:48.

LAMS Cross Country Teams Sweep Espanola Invitational!

The Los Alamos Middle School cross country teams braved mud and hills to sweep the Espanola Invitational Sept. 19.

They won all four races (7th grade girls, 7th grade boys, 8th grade girls, and 8th grade boys), and Paulina Burnside, Javon Montoya and Zoe Hemez each won their race individually as well.

Los Alamos School of Gymnastics (LASG) will join USA Gymnastics and its member clubs across the nation Saturday, Sept. 21 to celebrate National Gymnastics Day.

National Gymnastics Day is an annual event to showcase the sport of gymnastics and to encourage and promote physical fitness and good nutrition among the nation’s youth. 

LASG will celebrate the event by holding its first girls inter squad gymnastics meet of the season, in which 34 team level gymnasts will compete on beam, bars, floor and vault. Read More

Jennifer Reglien Best Predictor in Pace Race

Jennifer Reglien was the best predictor at 15 seconds off in the weekly pace race held Sept. 17 on the “Bridges Loop” course on the trails behind the Aquatic Center.

Other top predictors were Karen Thorn at 20 seconds off her predicted time and Mariela Saenz and Paul Elkins tying at a 48 second differential.
