Los Alamos High School girls and boys golf teams were awarded five individual state qualifying legs and two team state qualifying legs at the Grants/Piedra Vista Fall Golf Invitational Oct. 7-8 at Coyote del Malpais Golf Course in Grants.

The Los Alamos Middle School’s Hawks cross country teams swept the Santa Fe Indian School meet Wednesday, Oct. 2!

The athletes won 1st place as a team in all four races including 7th grade girls, 7th grade boys, 8th grade girls and 8th grade boys.

Pedicini Top Predictor in Final Pace Race of Season

Georgia Pedicini was only 9 seconds off her predicted time in the Cooper Pace Race held on the Canyon Rim Trail in the Atomic City Roadrunner’s final race of the season.

Other accurate predictors were:

Lauraine Maness with a 12 second differential;
Jennifer Reglien recording 18 seconds off; and
Jackie Marr at 21 seconds from her estimated time.

Fastest finishers on the four distances offered in the race were:

Paul Elkins at 12:54 in the 1 mile;
Linda Vance with a 14:27 in the 1.5 mile;
Rose Nyenhuis recording a 14:36

Monday kicked off this week’s Homecoming events including the annual bonfire.

Los Alamos Youth Leadership (LAYL) hosted the hotly popular event in the Sullivan Field parking lot Monday evening.

The Los Alamos Fire Department kept everything cool as the LAHS football team, students, teachers, coaches and community members roasted s’mores, listened to music and participated in Topper spirit.

Hilltopper Football Coaches; Players to Reminisce 1972 Season

Hilltopper Football … The Season of 1972

What a special season this was; in many ways unprecedented compared to seasons before and after.

The team was not loaded with players of exceptional talent but with players highly motivated and believing that giving 100 percent effort would result in success—success ultimately defined by an undefeated 10-win regular season and the District 1AAAA championship.

People interested in revisiting this season or wanting to learn more about it will have that opportunity 3-5 p.m., Oct. 4 at Dixie Girl Restaurant and Bar, 1789 Central

Los Alamos Youth Leadership (LAYL) is proud to bring the community the annual homecoming bonfire at 7:30 p.m. today in the Sullivan Field parking lot.

Everyone is welcome to stop by, support the football team, and roast s’mores while enjoying a nice evening full of music and Topper spirit. The event won’t go past 9:30 p.m. and the Los Alamos Fire Department and Chief Troy Hughes will be standing by, to ensure everyone’s safety at the bonfire.

SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos Middle School cross country teams had some great competition at the Albuquerque Academy Invitational Wednesday, Sept. 25 and definitely stepped up to the challenge.

The 7th grade girls took home 2nd, with the 8th grade girls earning 1st place. For the boys, the 7th grade boys took 2nd and the 8th grade boys won 1st.
