‘Run the Caldera’ Cancellation Impacts 450-plus Participants

The Thompson Ridge Fire has forced the cancellation of the annual Run the Caldera Marathon event.

Mike Lippiatt from the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce said that more than 450 participants had registered up to the time the event was cancelled earlier this week.

Lippiatt addressed the short and longterm impact the cancellation of Run the Caldera may have on the local economy.

Duane Marr was the top predictor at 12 seconds off his predicted time on the relativity smoke free American Springs Road up in the Jemez. 
 
Ted Romero who was the first male finisher in the three mile run at 21:41 was 29 seconds off his estimated time. He was followed by Roy Cope with a 30 second error and David Kratzer at 39 seconds off.

COLORADO SPRINGS – Including three players with prior USA Basketball national team experience and 29 collegiate athletes overall, USA Basketball Monday announced the roster for the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s World University Games Team training camp, which will take place June 24-30 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee issued the invitations.

Girls’ Soccer Tryouts and Summer Training Opportunities

The Los Alamos High School Girls’ 2013 Soccer Program will hold tryouts at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12 at Sullivan Field.  

Players must have a physical after April 1, 2013 (they will be good through the 2013/14 school year.) Forms may be picked up at the LAHS Athletic Office (663-2531) or they may be found at https:////lahs.laschools.net. Make sure that you print all of the forms.
