Volleyball Camp Starts Today

HILLTOPPER NEWS:

A High School Volleyball Technique Camp will take place 5-8 p.m. through June 20 at Los Alamos High School’s Griffith Gymnasium.

This camp focuses on teaching the individual skills needed to compete at the high school level with portions on all-around and position specific skills.

Gear Donations Needed for Junior Golf Club Swap

The Los Alamos Junior Golf Association Annual Club Swap is set for 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, June 30 under the big tent at the Los Alamos Golf Course.

The Association is seeking donations of golf gear, including, clubs, umbrellas, head covers, shoes and other gear.

Charger Aquatics swimmers from Los Alamos arrived in Fort Myers, Fla. Saturday, June 8 to begin a week of sea-level training with other teams from around the United States.

Romero Records Twofold First Place in Weekly Pace Race

Ted Romero was the top predictor as well as the fastest finisher in the three mile race in the weekly pace race Tuesday in hot, dusty conditions with a bit of smoke from the fires in the area on the sewage treatment plant access road in lower Bayo Canyon.

 
Romero was 16 seconds off his predicted time recording a 20:56 finish time. David Kratzer and Zach Medin were tied for second best predictor at 32 seconds off their predicted time.

Local Triathlon Training Open To All

The Splash ‘n Dash series starts June 26 as a training event for the Los Alamos Triathlon, which occurs Aug. 17.

Triatomics Multisport Club and the Los Alamos County Recreation Department hosts the annual event.

Splash ‘n Dash will occur every other Wednesday leading up to the Los Alamos Triathlon.

Dirty Players Wanted for High Mountain Mudfest 2013

COUNTY News:

Registration in underway for the 9th Annual High Mountain Mudfest Mud Volleyball Tournament, hosted by the Los Alamos County Recreation Division.

The Adult Coed Competitive Tournament starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at the North Mesa Mud Pits.

Teams must have 6-12 players, 18 and older, with at least four women per team.

The cost is $130 per team and the deadline to register 5 p.m. Thursday, July 18.
