‘Atomic Man Duathlon’ Gears Up for Competition April 28

TRIATOMICS News:

Named by Smithsonian Magazine as one of America’s top 10 “best small towns to visit” (April 2013), Los Alamos is host to the Atomic Man Duathlon – one of the best and most highly anticipated sporting events in New Mexico.

Now in its ninth year, the Atomic Man Duathlon is scheduled for April 28.

The Duathlon’s intermediate “fat man” course consists of a 10K run (twice around a 5K loop), followed by a 40K bike race; and concluding with a 5K run around one loop. The shorter “little boy” course is comprised of a 4K run; 15K bike race; and finishing with another 4K run.

Tails Are Wagging For 17 Annual Dog Jog

FOS News:

The 17 Annual Friends of the Shelter (FOS) Dog Jog is set to kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27.

The starting line is at Chamisa Elementary School in White Rock. The registration desk opens at 8 a.m., and the event includes a sanctioned 5K run and a 3.5K walk. 

This is a family friendly event and dogs of all sizes and shapes are welcome to participate – entrants with pets are eligible for fun prizes.

Nice shelter dogs will be available to rent on a first come basis for the race or walk and also will be available for adoption.

Los Alamos Nukes Rugby (high school boys) are hosting Volcano Vista from Albuquerque 11 a.m. today (Saturday, April 20) at Sullivan Field.
 
Los Alamos Rookie Rugby is playing 9-11 a.m. on the next field. This is touch rugby for 5-13 year olds.
 
U-15 boys will play Sevens (a high paced quick version of rugby that has seven people on a side and seven minute halves) at 11 a.m. at Sullivan field. 
 
For anyone is interested in the game of rugby, this is a great opportunity to watch the action live.

The Los Alamos High School Athletic Department announced today that it has accepted the resignation of Coach Rusty Bernstein as Head Boys and Girls Swim Coach.
