Earn $2,500 for LAHS Through ‘Rally4Rewards’

LAHS News:

U.S Bank is a supporter of high school athletics/activities and has been a major sponsor of the NMAA for many years now.

In addition to serving as the title sponsor of the State Football, Basketball and Track Championships, U.S. Bank has also served as a large contributor to the NMAA Foundation.

Now, they are taking this even further with Monday’s launch of the “Rally4Rewards” program.

Strong winds did nothing to dampen enthusiasm at the 3rd Annual Run For Her Life Race held Sunday, April 14 at East Park.
 
Runners from as far away as Montana took part in the 5K and 10K races, which raise funds for breast cancer research.
 
The Los Alamos Chapter of Hadassah, Los Alamos Jewish Center and Atomic City Roadrunners sponsered Sunday’s event.

Los Alamos runner Garth Reader has completed the timed portion of the 28 Annual Marathon des Sables (Marathon of Sands.)

The six-day, 156 mile ultra-marathon (the equivalent of six regular marathons) is considered the toughest foot race on earth.

Competitors from all over the world travel to Morocco to race across the Sahara desert, in 110-degree temperatures.

Put on your running (or walking) shoes. At 9 a.m. Sunday, April 14 the Los Alamos Chapter of Hadassah, the Los Alamos Jewish Center and Atomic City Roadrunners will present the third annual Run for Her Life.

The event is a 5K and 10K race in Los Alamos to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.

There were 10 dedicated, hard core Atomic City Road Runners at the snowy, cold Sewer Plant Road run Tuesday afternoon. 
 
The best predictor of the night was Ted Romero with a delta of 42 seconds. Ted also was the fastest runner on the 3-mile course with a time of 20:58. 
 
The fastest runner and best predictor on the 1-mile course was Linda Vance with a time of 9 minutes and 53 seconds, and an adjusted delta of 60 seconds off her predicted time.

The boys’ competitive team from Los Alamos School of Gymnastics competed in the 2013 New Mexico Boys State Championship in Albuquerque on March 16th and 17th.

Philo Shelton earned an all-around score of 51.95, placing seventh. Shelton earned an 8.9 (8th) on floor, 9.1 (7th) on pommel horse, 8.1 (8th) on rings, 9.35 (8th) on vault, 8.8 (6th) on parallel bars, and 7.7 (8th) on high bar.
