LAHS Swimmers Compete in State Finals Today

LAHS News:

The New Mexico High School State Swimming Championship is being held this weekend at Albuquerque Academy, with teams from all over the state sending their best to represent their schools. 

Each swimmer must qualify for the event they are competing in prior to the state meet, and are allowed to swim in only two individual events and two relays. 

The top 16 swimmers from the qualifying round go on to compete for team points during the finals – which is happening today.

Lilly Bueck, Addison Richie and Elizabeth Lockhart were the top scorers in their divisions for Los Alamos School of Gymnastics Atomic Tumblers at the Precision Gymnastics Meet Jan.26-27 in Albuquerque.

The Los Alamos Aquatomics swim team hosted a meet at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center Jan. 26-27. This meet was open not only to age-group club swimmers from around New Mexico, but Master swimmers as well.

Lilly Bueck was the top all-around scorer in the Level 5 Division for Los Alamos School of Gymnastics Atomic Tumblers’ at the Gold Cup Classic in Albuquerque on Jan. 19-20.

Bueck, Level 5 Junior B Division, earned gold on vault (9.0), bars (9.5), beam (9.45), floor (9.2) and in the all-around (37.15) competition.

Saturday, Feb. 16, the Los Alamos High School Wrestling Team took the 2-4A District title for the second straight year.

LAHS won by more than 30 points over second place Capital. Bob Geyer was honored as District Coach of the Year.

As a reward for their efforts at District, all LAHS Varsity wrestlers qualified for State.

Los Alamos was led by five wins in the following weight classes:

Pinon PTO Hosts Fun Run/Walk

PINON PTO News:

Pinon Elementary School PTO will host St. Patrick’s Day-themed Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at Pinon Elementary School.

Registration forms can be downloaded from the Pinon Elementary School website at https:////www.laschools.net/pinon.

Early registration forms and fees are due March 1. Adults (18 and up) are $10 and $5 for youth. Late registration (after March 1) is $20 for adults and $15 for youth.

Register for Spring Lacrosse Tuesday

LAYLAX News:

It’s not too late to register to play lacrosse in Los Alamos this spring.

Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse (LAYLAX) is conducting registration for the Spring 2013 season, which runs from the first week of March through the end of May.

The program is open to boys and girls aged 9 through high school seniors.

LAYLAX is holding a walk-in registration session, which will also be combined with a gear rental session 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 26 at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Training Room.
