Summerfest and Pajarito Punishment at Pajarito Mountain this Weekend

Celebrate the start of the summer season at Pajarito Mountain Saturday June 2.

The New Mexico Brewers Festival is noon to 5 p.m., featuring 15 New Mexico microbrewers and live music 1-5 p.m. with the Blue Hornets.

Lifts will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for hiking and biking.

Atomic City Transit is providing free shuttles 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.running every 30 minutes from Sullivan Field at Los Alamos High School.

Nearly 600 Entrants in Jemez Mountain Trail Runs

The Seventh Annual Jemez Mountain Trail Runs got underway early this morning at the Posse Lodge on North Mesa.

This growing international event drew nearly 600 runners, 40 percent of whom traveled from British Columbia, Mexico and 29 U.S. states beyond New Mexico.

The event consists of three races: half-marathon, 50K (31 miles) and 50 miles.

Ted Romero was the best pace-race predictor in running the trails in Potrillo Canyon and to the Estante Overlook, being only 7 seconds off his prediction for the 3 miles.
