The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers Varsity Volleyball Team hosted Albuquerque Academy Chargers Tuesday night at Griffith Gymnasium for a non-district matchup.

The Toppers fought hard in the match but the Chargers’ relentless offense was too much.

The Chargers clinched the match in 3 sets to Toppers 0.

Los Alamos Elks Lodge To Host Charity Golf Tournament

Elks Lodge News:

The Los Alamos Elks Lodge #2083 is hosting the 2024 Annual Elks Charity Golf Tournament starting at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at the Los Alamos Golf Course followed by a luncheon and other festivities at the Elks Lodge at 1601 Trinity Drive.

This will be one of the first opportunities to play on some of the renovated holes. The partial golf course opening means it can only support a reduced field of golfers. The policy debate in the presidential election has a new focus: removing taxes on tips for tipped wage earners.

Both candidates announced their proposals to eliminate taxes on tips in Nevada, which has the highest workforce percentage of tipped workers at 5%. New Mexico’s percentage of tipped workers is 3.5%.

Harris’s announcement was different because it also included a pledge to raise the federal minimum wage.

This is a great sound bite for rallies and commercials, but behind the scenes it is more complicated.

Topper Soccer Picks Up Big Win Over Santa Fe Demons

The Topper Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Santa Fe Saturday afternoon to play a match against the Demons at Santa Fe High School. Neither team scored in regulation play and the score was 0-0 so the game continued in overtime. The Demons defense held the Toppers to only 8 shots on goal but in the second overtime the Toppers made the goal that won the match 1-0. LAFC U9 Competitive Boys Soccer Wins PowerFord Tourney

The LAFC U9 competitive boys soccer team took 1st Place in the Rio Rapids PowerFord Tournament! They scored 13 goals by 6 different players and only allowed 2 goals as they went 3-0 in their first tournament! The team, composed of 2nd and 3rd graders from Los Alamos and White Rock, played great team soccer against teams from across New Mexico. The Los Alamos High School Topper Varsity Football Team runs onto the field making a grand entrance, before falling to the Pojoaque Elks 13-14 in a non-district game played on the PVS Football Field in Pojoaque Friday night. The teams were evenly matched with the Toppers scoring first in the 1st quarter and the Elks answered in the 2nd with a score and a 2-point conversion making the score 7-8.
