SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers hosted the Moriarty Pintos at home Saturday for a critical district matchup doubleheader.

The Toppers started off slow in the first game but their sticks heated up, crossing home plate 11 times to the Pintos 2. In the second game, it was all green and gold with a commanding 14-0 victory.

The weather has finally settled down and spring is definitely here. Flowers and fruit trees are blooming. The land gets a little greener every day.

Two Tie For Top Predictor In ACRR Weekly Pace Race

Lisa Johnson and Mary Knaak tied for the best predictors in the Atomic City Road Runner (ACRR) weekly pace race held on the Canada del Buey Trail in White Rock at 3 seconds off their predicted time. 

Johnson was also the first female finisher on the 1 mile course with a time of 11:44. 

Other accurate predictors:

  • Priscila Rosa with a 6 second differential;
  • Zach Medin at 18 seconds off;
  • Chris Michel recording a 22 second difference; and
  • Felix Candia at 31 seconds off.

This Sunday, April 28 marks the final day of Purgatory Resort’s 2023-24 winter operations. Purgatory invites skiers and snowboarders to join them as they bid adieu to another fantastic ski season.

This weekend Purgatory will be open Friday through Sunday, April 26-28 with Lift 1 turning from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Texas Tech Wins 4th Ranch Horse National Championship

Texas Tech University’s Ranch Horse Team claimed its fourth consecutive national championship and captured individual titles across all three divisions at the National Intercollegiate Ranch and Stock Horse Association national championships last week in Amarillo.

The Ranch Horse Team is judged in four disciplines – cow work, reining, ranch trail and ranch riding – with two riders in each division compiling their scores to make up the overall team score.
