NMAA Foundation To Award $75,000 In Student Scholarships

ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Activities Association has announced  the recipients of the 2023-2024 NMAA Foundation Scholarships.   

The NMAA Foundation will recognize most of the students receiving these scholarships during the Nusenda Credit Union State Basketball Championships. Some will also be honored during the NMAA State Spirit or Spring Championships.   

Approximately 450 students submitted applications, with a total of $76,000 being distributed through 68 different scholarships. There were 22 scholarship categories, with one being the special Together We Read More

The Los Alamos High School Hilltopper varsity girls basketball team hosted the Española Valley Sundevils Thursday night at Griffith Gymnasium for the district semifinals.

The Sundevils came out aggressively taking an early lead in the first quarter, but the Toppers battled back winning the matchup 51-40.

There are several fishing areas in Northeast New Mexico that will open Friday (March 1) for the 2024 season.

Morphy Lake State Park, Clayton Lake State Park and the Charette Lakes will open for fishing. The Charette Lakes should be good for some nice, holdover trout. There should also be some holdover trout at Morphy Lake.

Los Alamos High School Junior Jade Blackhart has accomplished something no other student has done in Los Alamos Public Schools’ history: earned a state championship first place finish in girls wrestling.

The Los Alamos High School Topper girls wrestling program qualified three wrestlers to compete in the State wrestling competition held last Friday and Saturday in the Rio Rancho Event Center.
