The Los Alamos High School Hilltopper Varsity tennis teams had a strong showing in a two-day tournament held Feb. 23-24 at Española and Santa Fe, with 8 teams from around the state participating.

Toppers Fall To Elkettes 44-47 In District Title Game

Jenae Velarde and Jasmine Valdez battle for the ball in the second period of the district title game between the Toppers and Pojoaque Elkettes Monday night. The game was played in a neutral gym, the Española Del Valdez Gymnasium. The Toppers and Elkettes are longtime foes, and the games are always close and filled with action and this game was no exception. The Toppers came out hot and led the first quarter 12-5 and at halftime 19-15. At the end of the third quarter the Toppers led 33-32. LAHS Basketball Hosts District Quarterfinal Games Tonight

LAPS News:

Los Alamos High School (LAHS) will host the 2-4A Boys District Tournament Quarterfinal game tonight in Griffith Gymnasium. 

The Toppers will take on the Moriarty Pintos. The gates open at 5 p.m. and the game will start at 6 p.m.

For the district tournament, there will be no cash sales and all sales are through GoFan. Passes will not be accepted for any post season game.

Meiji University Swim Team Trains At Y In Los Alamos

The Japanese swim team has spent the last three weeks around Los Alamos doing various training and site seeing the surrounding area throughout their stay; soon they will be returning to Japan.

Meiji University has been a top contender for swimming athletics, with their club winning “…the 99th All Japan Student Swimming Championships (hereinafter “Intercollegiate Competition”) held at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Koto City” in 2023. (meiji.ac.jp)

SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos High School Hilltopper girls were on the road Saturday to face-off against the Pojoaque Elkettes.

The game was evenly matched and both teams exchanged the lead throughout the match. In the fourth quarter, the Toppers pulled ahead and were able to hold off the Elkettes 50-41.

The Toppers have a district tie breaker game 6 p.m. Monday in Española with a rematch against the Pojoaque Elkettes at a neutral stadium for both teams.
